Where affiliate links appear
Affiliate links can appear on resource pages, in the Tools & Gear library, and occasionally inside articles where a specific tool is discussed. Where a link is an affiliate link, it is marked as such near the link and carries the sponsored attribute that search engines use to identify paid relationships. Links that are not affiliate links are not marked, because there is nothing to disclose.
Programmes we participate in
HOS participates in individual merchant affiliate programmes and in the Amazon Associates programme. As an Amazon Associate, HOS earns from qualifying purchases.
How selection actually works
A resource enters the library because it connects to the documentary work and survives review on product fit, pricing, evidence, and stated limitations. Commission rates are not a selection criterion, and we include tools with no affiliate programme at all whenever they are the better answer. We also publish limitations of tools we earn from.
What we will not do
We will not accept payment for a favourable conclusion, allow a merchant to review or approve editorial copy before publication, or hide a commercial relationship.
