Raycast AI
Raycast AI is the Pro-tier AI layer that lives inside the Raycast launcher on macOS. It adds an in-launcher AI chat, custom AI Commands, and cloud sync for AI history and settings.

Overview
Raycast AI is the paid Raycast Pro AI layer that lives inside the Raycast launcher on macOS. It is not a separate application: the same keyboard shortcut that opens the command bar is what opens AI Chat and runs AI Commands.
What Raycast AI adds on top of the launcher
AI Chat in the command bar, without opening a browser tab or separate chat app
AI Commands: reusable prompts (rewrite, summarize, translate, custom prompts) triggered by keyboard on selected text
Cloud sync of AI history, snippets, and quicklinks across multiple Macs
Choice of underlying models on Pro plans
Boundary vs the launcher
Everything below the AI layer - opening apps, file search, window management, extensions, snippets - is the free Raycast launcher and is reviewed on the Raycast page. Raycast AI only becomes relevant once that launcher is already adopted; if a reader is not a daily Raycast user, this page is the wrong starting point.
Things to consider
Requires a paid Raycast Pro subscription
macOS only
AI outputs are drafts and need human review before use in important work
Readers focused on data handling may also want the detail pages on Raycast AI Privacy Settings and Raycast Password Manager Extensions.
Best for
Existing Raycast users on macOS who want an AI chat and reusable AI Commands available from the same keyboard shortcut as their launcher, without opening a separate app or browser tab.
Writers, developers, researchers, and other knowledge workers already using Raycast on macOS who want AI assistance built directly into their launcher instead of a separate chat window.
Helps with: Running an AI chat from the Raycast command bar, creating reusable AI Commands (prompts) triggered from the keyboard, transforming selected text with AI, and syncing AI history, quicklinks, and snippets across Macs via Raycast Pro cloud sync.
Not ideal for
Raycast AI requires a paid Raycast Pro subscription and is macOS only. It does not replace the underlying Raycast launcher; the free launcher core is reviewed separately on Raycast. AI outputs need review before use in important work.
Pros
- AI chat available directly from the Raycast command bar
- Custom AI Commands (reusable prompts) triggered by keyboard
- Cloud sync of AI history, snippets, and quicklinks across Macs
- Integrated into a workflow users already have open
- Choice of underlying AI models on Pro plans
Cons
- Requires paid Raycast Pro subscription
- macOS only
- Assumes Raycast (the launcher) is already installed and adopted
- AI outputs need human review before use in important work
Pricing
Free plan available. Paid Pro plan available. See the official Raycast pricing page for current plans.
